One-Day Training on CGE Modeling with Microsimulation for Policy Analysis
November 26, 2025
The Angelo King Institute conducted a one-day training on CGE modeling with microsimulation to support policy analysis on the Rice Tariffication Law (RTL). The session utilized a Philippines CGE model calibrated to the 2018 Social Accounting Matrix (SAM) and linked to FIES-based microsimulation to examine the effects of alternative rice tariff scenarios on prices, production, government revenues, and household welfare.
Participants from the Congressional Policy and Budget Research Department (CPBRD) engaged in guided discussions and exercises to interpret simulation results and identify key policy implications. The training aimed to strengthen the use of evidence-based tools in legislative deliberations on agriculture, food security, and social protection.
