The study presents the conditions of men and women in the Philippines using secondary data and surveys. It describes the status of women, and assesses trends and gender discrimination, in the areas of nutrition, health, education, employment, and political participation. The results of the study are contained in two (2) volumes. Volume 1 presents the conditions of men and women in the Philippines using secondary data. Data from census and surveys conducted by the National Statistics Office and other government agencies as well as administrative reports of government agencies were used to assess trends and gender disparities. The report describes the status of women in the areas of nutrition, health, education, employment and political participation. Volume II features the results of the two surveys conducted in Barangay Salvacion, Puerto Princesa City, and Palawan on conventional and non-conventional indicators.
