The overarching goal of this research is to help six Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) megacities foster their innovativeness, productivity and competitiveness in various sectors of the economy, while simultaneously developing practical solutions to address the undesirable consequences associated with rapid urbanization. The ultimate goal is identify sustainable development pathways that are responsive to the needs and interests of local stakeholders (including the poor) in these big cities.
